I had an open myomectomy surgery at Procare Hospital a few weeks ago, and I can honestly say I was very well taken care of from start to finish.
Before the surgery, I had online consultations with Dr. Fache, and because of the long NHS waiting list, we decided it would be best for me to have the procedure done at Procare.
I’m incredibly grateful to everyone involved in my care ; the doctors, anesthesiologist, nurses, receptionists, WhatsApp team, cleaners, and every single staff member who made my experience comfortable and reassuring.
A special thank you to my surgeons, especially Dr. Fache and Dr. Grace, for their exceptional skill and professionalism. Dr. Fache is truly everything people say he is 😅😅 — HIGHLY skilled, calm, and with such a fun personality. Dr. Grace was extremely meticulous and made sure everything was intact even after the surgery. She also kept checking in on me, which I deeply appreciate.
The surgery went smoothly with no complications, and I’m recovering really well.
I also want to specially thank Dr. Mo!!!! (hopefully he sees this 😂). He was incredibly friendly during such an anxious time for me. He cracked jokes even during the surgery, which genuinely helped calm my nerves, and he kept checking in on me afterward as well. You’re AWESOME!
The aftercare was excellent, and most of the nurses were very proactive and attentive. Special shoutout to the team: the two Nurse Joys (one was always warm and cheerful, while the other was exceptionally good at her job), Nurse Maymunah, Nurse Esther, Nurse Brenda and many others whose names I may not remember . They constantly checked in and made sure I was comfortable and well cared for.
I was also really impressed that the Quality Assurance Manager checked in a couple of times to ask about the care I had received.
Another thing worth mentioning is how responsive and polite the WhatsApp support team was throughout the process. They were VERY proactive, and their communication was excellent. Kudos to them!
If there’s one area that could use improvement, it would be the intercom system in the rooms, as the connection was sometimes poor, making it a bit difficult to reach the nurses when needed.
Overall, I had a genuinely great experience at PROCARE, and I would HIGHLY recommend them!
My main issue, however, is the waiting time. Even when I’m given an appointment for 3pm, I still end up waiting around 2 hours or more before seeing the doctor. Unfortunately, this has also been the case with morning appointments. Almost every visit, I’ve never actually been seen at the scheduled appointment time, which can be very frustrating, especially during pregnancy.
I also had an unpleasant experience with one of the light-skinned receptionists at the front desk. She was quite rude and unwilling to provide even a rough estimate of the waiting time or explain how many patients were ahead of me in the queue. I found that very unhelpful and disappointing.
After my last experience, I’ve started considering changing hospitals to somewhere that values patients’ time
