WHAT IS OVARIAN REJUVENATION THERAPY?
Ovarian Rejuvenation Therapy is a procedure that is intended to reawaken and stimulate the ovaries to produce new eggs, potentially improving egg quality and quantity. The goal of Ovarian Rejuvenation is to Increase the chance that a woman can have her own genetic baby instead of using donor eggs.
HOW SOON CAN I START?
Ovarian Rejuvenation can be done at any time or day of the cycle. At Procare Hospital, we prefer the first half of the cycle, just after menses between Day 7 and Day 12.
HOW LONG DOES THE THERAPY TAKE?
Ovarian Rejuvenation is a day procedure. Clients typically come to the hospital in the morning. Baseline tests are done. Blood is drawn to prepare PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma), which is the major component of the autologous enriched plasma used for ovarian rejuvenation. Ovarian injection of the autologous enriched plasma is done vaginally under ultrasound guidance and conscious sedation. You can go home 1-2 hours after the injection.
WOULD I NEED IVF AFTER OVARIAN REJUVENATION THERAPY?
Oh yes, you may still need IVF. The aim is to increase response to ovarian stimulation, so women of advanced reproductive age can have a genetic baby instead of using donor eggs.
DO I NEED REPEATED TREATMENT?
One session is generally sufficient. However, treatment can be repeated if the response from the first session is suboptimal. This is typically done every 4 weeks for a total of 3 sessions.
HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?
Overall, the maximal effect of ovarian rejuvenation is observed between weeks 8 and 12 after the procedure, consistent with the average time it takes an egg to go through the maturation process in the ovary.
CAN I JUST TRY NATURALLY?
Yes as well. There are reports of women who conceived on their own after ovarian rejuvenation. However, the main aim of ovarian rejuvenation is to enhance response to fertility treatments such as IVF.
